I turned 15 months old the day after Christmas and went to see Dr. Clark today! Here is a summary of me now:
Growth: I weighed in at 20 pounds 15 ounces, which is UP to the 8th percentile (from the 5th before!) and I am 30.5 inches long (30th percentile) and my head is 47 cm (50th percentile)!
Language: Dr. Clark says I should have at least 3 words by now, which I basically do: Mama, Dada (though I don't say that as much now that I can say Mama!), and I kinda can say All Done sometimes. I am also starting to try to imitate Mommy when she says Ball and Bus, which kinda come out as "Ba", and I have said Papa and Yia Yia a few times to them, and I am getting really good at inflection, even if my words don't come out right! I also imitate syllables, for example I kinda said "It's Grandma" last night when I saw her on skype and after Mommy said it... only mine came out with different sounds, but the right syllables! I can imitate the "t" sound too. I can sign "more" correctly now and still sign "please", hi and bye of course, all done (my version), drink (my version), eat (starting to get this one), thank you (which looks just like my blowing a kiss).
Social: I love to say Hi and Bye to people, but can be shy about it sometimes. If there are lots of people, it takes me a little while to warm up... but then I'll be the life of the party! I really do like being the center of attention and will look to see if others are watching, especially when I do something cool! I like to clap when I hear others clapping and when I do something I am proud of. I love going to the playground to play, but also to watch the other kids. I am starting to interact with them a little too. I love kids and am starting to try to talk to them, even though it seems like they don't know what I am saying. I always share, and sometimes take... but I am working on that!
Gross Motor: I am super good at walking and running, but I don't care about climbing on anything yet, except stairs! I am really good at throwing, with either hand, though I am a righty for sure! We don't have stairs at home, so anytime I see stairs I get excited and want to climb up and down them. I can go up them all by myself by crawling, but also like to try to take big steps when someone is holding my hand. I want to walk down steps by myself too, but Mommy always takes my hand when I try to take a step. She says I have no idea I could fall.. whatever! I love going down the slide on the playground too, but need some help sitting down at the top of it... as I woudl just assume walk down it :).
Oral Motor: I can use a straw. I have 10 teeth now and looks like Mommy will be looking to take me to a pediatric dentist soon. I also have an attached upper lip frenulum, which might tear on its own someday or will need to be cut with a laser when I get older if it becomes an issue (like casuses a gap between my teeth, or affects my speech). I still love to suck on my two fingers a lot, the index and middle fingers on my right hand. Oh, I also thought I should mention... vegetables are gross! Except broccoli with cheese. I like that. But I dont like carrots or peas anymore, sometimes I will eat potatoes... mostly yuck! I also still like my milk warm... but Doctor Clark said I have to be off the bottle and on the cup by the next time she sees me!
Cognition: We play a fun game where I have to find a stuffed animal that Mommy hid. I am so good at it! I am also good at bringing things to Mommy and Daddy. I am starting to imitate actions and actions with objects, like putting a harmonica to my mouth and a phone to my ear. I can also point to things and people accurately, like my nose (though I do mix it up with my eye often), your nose, belly button (I like to lift up my shirt for this one) and some other body parts.
Fine Motor: I have good fine motor skills and like to color, but mostly that is just making dots.I also like to pick up little things, like leaves, paper, etc and give it to Mommy. She is confusing though because at home she is grateful for this, but in public she doesn't want me to pick up what she calls "trash". I don't understand her. I can also place pegs into my new wooden toy. I am very good at stacking blocks too! I can bring food to my mouth with a spoon and fork and am starting to learn how to stab with a fork. I love books and will flip through the pages on my own, though sometimes I look at the books upside down. I like to point at what I see in the books! I also love to point at airplanes, birds, cars and the moon!
Vaccines: I got my MMR and chicken pox shots today and a booster for D... something. It made me cry for a little while, but once Mommy held me and I sucked my fingers in her arms, I felt much better ... then I took a 3+ hour nap! That felt good!
Health: I had another ear infection this month, and this time there was puss, so the doc thought my eardrum had a little hole in it. It is 100% better now though! They say if you get 5-6 ear infections in a year, you may need tubes... let's hope that doesn't happen!
Other: I also enjoy taking my socks off and being the center of attention. Most of all, I lOVE to dance, anytime I hear music of any kind!!
Now, I need to think of a New Year's Resolution... hmm... maybe to learn lots and lots of new words and to put them together in sentences!
