Our First Trip of 2010 - Joshua Tree National Park

Mommy, Daddy and I went to Joshua Tree National Park again! It was so fun, but kinda cold! Mommy carried me in the Bjorn with all my supplies in her backpack, and Daddy carried the rest of the supplies with him. I napped a bit, but mostly stayed awake this time - especially when Mommy changed my diaper and I peed on my clothes so she had to change them... brrrrrrrrrrrr! You should try being totally naked in the wind! Geesh! I didn't cry though, I am tough!

The trail was the Crown Prince lookout trail and was an easy 3 miles. While I ate, Daddy walked around trying to find an old battery that was supposed to be there, but he couldn't find it. We did find some rock formations and I got to see huge boulders and neat trees and bushes and cacti... and 2 bunnies!

New Year's Resolutions

Mommy has been trying ot get me to go to bed at 8 in the crib in my room this week... but I haven't been a big fan. Last night though she pulled out all the stops to get me to sleep and I decided maybe my New Year's Resolution can be to go to bed on time without screaming. We'll see... What did Mommy do? Later bedtime at 9 after a bath and a massage, swaddle, pacifier, a new fishtank toy with ligths and sounds and movement that is so pretty and hangs on the crib, mom and dad hung out with me in my room earlier in the day and I took a short nap... I am fighting another cold off, so that can make me a little cranky, but all these things made it just right and I happily went in my crib and fell asleep. I am sleeping 7-9 hours a night now, eat, and then take in 2-3 more hours of sleep. PS, I hate that darn booger sucker Mommy keeps putting in my nose. Yuck yuck yuck.

I am also excited about my hands, not only can I suck on those little fingers of mine whenever I want, but I also can use these things to hold stuff! I don't really know what to do with it once I have it in my hand, but Mommy and Daddy have been handing me all these new toys I had never seen before. Sometimes I just like to play with my own fingers!

So, what are my resolutions for this year? Go to bed at a consistent bedtime, learn to crawl and walk, learn a new language, be a good friend, try new foods, grow some hair... whew, that's a mighty list, but I can do it!

Today I am 3 months old and I took my first official one hour nap in my bed today at noon.

Santa's Reindeer

clean bill of health

I saw Dr. Clark today and she gave me a clean bill of health. I now weigh 11 pounds, 10 ounces and am in the 30th percentile for weight (which means in a group of 100 babies, 70 of them would weigh more than me and I would weight more than 30 of them)... which she says is just fine. My weight curve is right on track. Mommy was all worried for nothing. Turns out this mark between my eyes, that looks like a bruise, is common... it is a vein that can be seen though my thin baby skin. She promises it will fade, and promises my hair will grow in!

Mindy

This is my mom's friend, Mindy. She flew in from Colorado to meet me! We got to hang out just the two of us one morning while my mommy and daddy went to take car of Mommy's car (something about the radiator). I like Mindy a lot!

Amy came over tonight for dinner! She is so nice, we hung out for a while.

5 babies at a cookie exchange

Today Mommy and I went to Sophia's house for a Cookie Exchange. I can't ahve any this year, but they look so good! My mommy spent all day yesterday making Peppermint Pinwheels to share. There were lots of people! I even met another baby, Megan! Her mommy is Jenny.
